SafeguardingĀ
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s business. Everyone who comes into contact with our children and their families and carers has a role to play. At Buckstones we have an extensive safeguarding team who work hard to ensure that the safety of our children remains a high priority. We have clear roles and responsibilities that we execute every day. We actively encourage concerns to be raised so that they can be dealt with at the earliest opportunity. Our safeguarding policies can be read in the policy section by clicking this link. CLICK HERE
Operation Encompass
The purpose of Operation Encompass at Buckstones Primary School is to safeguard and support children who have been involved in a domestic abuse incident. Following an incident at home, children will often arrive at school distressed, upset and unprepared for the day.
Operation Encompass has been developed so that Key Adults in schools receive an ENCOMPASS report at the time of the incident from Oldham Police. This knowledge, given through Operation Encompass, allows the provision of immediate early intervention as appropriate to the child.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead, Miss Sarah Healey is the ‘Key Adult’ for Operation Encompass supported by the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, Miss Melanie Platt and Mrs Amy Pearson. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
As a school we are committed to provide the best possible care and support for all our pupils and this is one way in which we can do this.
We always ensure that we keep an eye on local and national changes that could affect safeguarding procedures in school. The whole school community receives regular updates and a programme of training to ensure they are fully equipped to deal with all matters related to safeguarding.
